BT Young Scientist and Technologist of the Year 2018 Simon Meehan Congratulation to our past pupil Simon Meehan who was named BT Young Scientist and Technologist of the Year 2018 at the RDS on Friday 12 th January. His project was entitled an “Investigation into Antimicrobial effects of both aerial and roots plants of selected plants against Staphylococcus aures” . Simon investigated the effects of such humble plants as the blackberry and asparagus on MRSA bacteria. The achievement was the culmination of two years of research motivated by a love of learning and the inspiration of his grandad Eddie Lucey who was a herbalist.
